RESIDENTIAL TESTING
At Z Radon and Basement Waterproofing we prefer to use Continuous Radon Monitors, also known as a CRMs, for testing homes.
CRM's provide quick turn around times.
CRMs are relatively small machines, typically on tripods, and placed centrally in the lowest level of your home for a minimum of 48 hours.
In preparation and throughout testing, homes should begin closed door conditions 12 hours prior to test placement. This means, you may come and go as typical, but please do not leave and exterior windows or doors open for long periods of time.
Often, results can be provided on the same day as pick up.
CRM reports will display both hourly and average radon levels, with colored graphs for quick and easy interpretation.
CRM reports make test tampering is more readily evident.
The EPA, recommends retesting every 2 years.
If you have further questions about CRM testing, please feel free to call, email or text.

Charcoal Activated Radon Tests
Short term charcoal activated tests, from start to receiving results, will require more time.
Charcoal activated tests do not provide hourly readings, only radon averages and do not make test tampering evident.
Short Term tests often take 7-14 days to conduct and receive results.
Like CRM's they also require closed door conditions
The EPA, recommends retesting every 2 years.
If you have further questions about charcoal activated tests, or are considering administering one on your own, please feel free to call, email or text.
